Favourite fonds : Joyce Wieland

To mark what would have been her 80th birthday, the Clara Thomas Archives & Special Collections is highlighting the contributions of artist Joyce Wieland.

Wieland, who passed away in 1998 was  a painter, textile artist and film-maker. She is perhaps best known for her large-scale quilted textile installations in Toronto institutions such as subway station and our own Scott Library.

A link to Wieland's extensive archive can be found here.

A collection of material acquired regarding Wieland's work can be found here.

Another archival collection that contains material on Wieland's work is the Avrom Isaacs fonds.  A link to the finding aid can be found here.

Below are several images of Wieland at an exhibition of her work, assembling and installing the Caribou Quilt at Spadina Subway Station on the TTC.
